Valerie was born and raised on Flores Island and because of her growing up in a small village near Sano Nggoang Lake, she has a strong connection to the untouched nature and local people of her home island. As a child, she wanted to become an English teacher to teach the local kids the language and also because she knows how difficult it is to get an education, and she wanted to have a positive impact on developing the education system. However, when her parents were hosting some tourists at their house, she was fascinated by the fact that other people come to see her village and she wanted even more people to explore and experience the place she grew up in. That’s when she decided to work in tourism and started to follow that path.
After graduating from Tourism High School in Labuan Bajo, Valerie gained 9 years of experience working as a boat tour guide, in a dive shop, and in hotels and hostels. But despite enjoying those jobs, she felt limited in her ability to make the meaningful impact that she wanted to have starting from a young age and so she decided to start her own company.
Through Best Tour Komodo, she aims to protect the untouched nature of Komodo National Park and Flores Island, help the local community, and make her guests happy by helping them get unforgettable memories in the place she grew up in and loves.

Very good experience!!
Tour booking was quick and easy, and the tour was a complete surprise. It was great, very tasty food, everything well organized, comfortable beds, air conditioning, new snorkeling equipment, the crew a 10 and the guide very nice, I would recommend it 100%, we were also very lucky and saw mantas, many dragons, turtles and sharks. Very good experience!!
